Memorize Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
The Discipline of Compassion
The second comes from Adele Ahlberg Calhoun’s Spiritual Disciplines Handbook when she invites us to the spiritual discipline of compassion.
Ask three people who are close to you if they will honestly answer some questions:
- How do I come across?
- What is it like to be with me?
- Do I show interest in others?
- Do I mostly talk about myself?
- What do you learn about the way you come across?
Tell Them You Love Them
A friend recently lost a family member suddenly. His recommendation? Tell the people you care about that you love them every time you see them. You never know when it will be the last time.
